Imagine That!

Somewhere
between 3 and 4 years of age,
something happens to your child.
At about this age, your child begins marching to a different
drum. And banging it, too. You might say a young preschooler
is suddenly out to change the world. There are noises to be made.
Pictures to be drawn. Things to build, things to knock down.
So much to DO! As a parent, how do you support this all-important
transition? You do it by providing a carefully constructed bridge
between receptive learning and expressive learning. Kindermusik
Imagine That is just such a bridge. This music readiness program
encourages and strengthens your child's exciting new relationship
to the world. Kindermusik uses music to encourage early learning
and creativity in children birth to 7 years of age. Music is
the means, not the goal. The goal is a more alive, creative and
able child.

Kindermusik
matches the child's pace.
Between
the ages of 2 and 7 years, your child will pass through several
distinct learning phases. At each stage along the way, the Kindermusik
series uses a developmentally appropriate curriculum to promote
language skills, symbolic thinking, coordination, social interaction
and to awaken your child's imagination. And when class is over,
your child goes home with materials to keep the Kindermusik experience
alive all week. Obviously, this gives your child a boost in the
right direction. Yet the Kindermusik experience is just the opposite
of the "superkid" syndrome. Kindermusik never pushes
a child to learn. Instead, Kindermusik appreciates and applauds
children for who they are. The result is joyful learning at a
pace set by the child. Kindermusik Imagine That is third in the
four-stage Kindermusik cirriculum that complements your child's
own stages of learning. The first stage is the Kindermusik Village
program which celebrates the development of children birth to
18 months. Kindermusik Our Time is the second program which enriches
children 18 months to 3 years. Kindermusik Imagine That is for
children ages 3 to 4 years. The final stage Kindermusik for the
Young Child guides the development of children 4 through 7.

How
Kindermusik broadens the world of the preschool child:
No longer content to simply sit back and soak it all up, your
3 year old child is becoming an increasingly active force in
his or her own environment. Educators have noted that the period
between ages 3 and 4 is an important time when children begin
to develop the "wherewithal"- capabilities and inner
resources - necessary for eventual conceptualization and cognitive
understanding. Music and movement are the perfect means by which
a young child can exercise and strengthen these vital inner capacities.
This is done through movement, vocal play, singing, listening,
playing instruments, sound exploration and other musical experiences.
That's why Kindermusik provides a unique entree for your child's
preparation for later life unlike any other program. Kindermusik
Imagine That is the perfect transition to help ready children
for a positive experience in Kindermusik for the Young Child.
Kindermusik Imagine That will accustom your child to begin class
without a parent or caregiver present the entire time. It also
helps your child begin to master new skills.

Teaching
children to be creators - not just consumers - of music.
Something
vital is lost when sing-a-longs around the family piano are replaced
by compact discs and music videos: participation. Many people
today have never known the joy of creating music - rather they've
just passively absorbed it. Kindermusik provides an antidote
to this learned passivity by making music a natural part of you
child's life. Because so much of you child's cognitive, sensory
and physical development occurs by age 7, preschool exposure
to music can have a profound and life-long influence on your
child's innate musical ability. A Kindermusik child has experienced
music making as an innate part of being human. A Kindermusik
child has succeeded with music, performed comfortably in front
of others and through rhythm and ensemble work already knows
the fun of making music with other people. That's why so many
educators have endorsed Kindermusik. And why, since its inception
in 1976, the Kindermusik program has grown into an international
movement with more than 2,100 teachers in the U.S., Canada and
other countries.
