Gretchen M. Axton, MT-BC

Gretchen Axton has been a practicing music therapist since receiving her degree in music therapy from the University of Kansas in 1992. She has long since been addicted to the joy she receives from children, and spent much of her college days working for daycare and other children programs. She is also a trained swimmer and lifeguard and spent many of her summer days at the local pool.

Gretchen moved back to her birthplace in Redondo Beach, CA to take a music therapy internship position in 1992-93. Upon the completion of the internship, she was offered a music therapist position at La Paz Geropsychiatric Center in Paramount, CA. She worked rehabilitating senior patients for two years before being promoted to Rehabilitation Department Director. During her four years with La Paz she continued her work with children, her first love, working with developmentally disabled, down syndrome and autistic children in groups and individually.
